Kayla Painter is an experimental artist, producer and DJ.

Painter’s immersive, ever-evolving AV performances, are a natural consequence of the entire writing process – the visuals figure into the earliest stages of her music; 2022 saw her debut headline tour, debut vinyl release (Castles in Space), and supporting Carl Cox, 2021 saw her as tour support for the Rival Consoles Articulation tour, joining a panel with Laurie Anderson, and release of a EP ‘Somewhen’ with singles on heavy rotation via BBC6Music, and celebrated by fans and media alike.  2019 saw her playing at events such as The Great Escape, Camp Elsewhere, Bluedot, and Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here festival. She has crafted remixes for a string of well-regarded acts including W.H. Lung (Melodic Records), Teddy Hunter (Bubblewrap Records) and Scrimshire (Albert's Favourites), as well as appearing on releases by the likes of Jilk (Project Mooncircle), among others.

Supported through Gilles Peterson's ‘Future Bubblers’ talent development program, Kayla has continued to make a lasting impact on key tastemakers in the UK. Her releases have continued to received support and acclaim, with spins from Mary-Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Steve Lamacq, Tom Ravenscroft, Nemone, Huw Stephens and Giden Coe on BBC 6Music, Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1) and BBC Introducing. She has written music for Disney, Channel 4, Discovery Channel and a range of independent films, as well as having been commissioned by Universal Publishing to write an EP for synch.

2022 saw the long awaited longer release from Painter, Infinite You; the debut vinyl for the producer.   Infinite You heads deep into space exploration and delivers a timeless boundless listening experience, with expertly crafted ambient textures and soundscapes.  With Painter's unique production style, her name and reputation grow with tastemakers comparing her to Rick Rubin (Norman Records, 2022) she continues to gather a cult following on the experimental electronic scene.  With continued 6Music support throughout the year, Lamacq dubbed Painter’s earlier, Balloons in the Arcade ‘Best New Music of 2022’.

2023 will see further releases from the producer with two major projects in the pipeline, as well as live and DJ dates around the UK.
